What is more important
Than sending your children to a school where they love to learn?
The more that you read, the more things you will know.
The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.

Adam Duus – Head of DP

We welcome Adam Duus to ILG Kosovo as our new Head of Secondary and IBDP Coordinator. Adam will teach Physics in the DP and MYP, and TOK in the DP.

Adam comes to us from Mountain Creek State High School on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia where he taught Physics and Maths in the senior school and Maths, Science, Spanish and Japanese in the junior school. He also was involved in the basketball program, took students on outdoor education camps, and was second-in-charge on six school trips to Japan.

Adam believes the purpose of education is two-fold: to be able to make better decisions for a better life, and to be able to take increasing responsibility for those decisions. He believes his specialist subject – Physics/Science is just one of the many tools students need for a holistic ‘toolbox’ to address complex challenges and life in the 21st Century. He is passionate about the IB DP and MYP because the multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary nature promotes the development of this balanced, well-rounded ‘toolbox’.

Adam is also passionate about Futures & Foresight Education – the teaching of critical futures thinking and creative strategic foresight, and the cultivation of Futures & Foresight Literacy – the ability to ‘read’ the future and ‘write’ the future. He has presented on these topics at IB Global Conferences and hopes to inject this into ILG high school curricula when/where possible.

Outside of school Adam enjoys travel in the world of ideas and culture as well as place. He has lived in Japan, USA, England, Colombia, France and South Africa, and is excited about adding Kosovo to this list. He likes exploring and wandering, and looks forward to hiking the Sharri and Accursed Bjeshkët e Nemuna mountain areas, as well as cycling in various parts of the country. Over the summer Adam travelled in India visiting the ancient temples and caves of Hampi, Hassan, Badami, Allora and Ajanta, before volunteering for a month at the Bosnian Valley of the Pyramids. Now Adam very much looks forward to settling down in Prishtina, becoming part of the ILG family and community, and learning about Kosovar history, culture and customs.
