Empowering Global Scholars through the IB Diploma Programme

ILG School proudly offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) for students in Grades 11 and 12, providing an academically rigorous and globally respected education that prepares students for success at top universities worldwide.

The IB DP is widely recognized as one of the most challenging and comprehensive pre-university programmes, accepted by over 2,000 universities in more than 70 countries, including prestigious institutions across Europe, North America, and beyond.

IB Diploma Programme Structure

Students enrolled in the IB DP complete:

  • Six Subject Courses

    • Three at Higher Level (HL)

    • Three at Standard Level (SL)
      Subjects span languages, sciences, mathematics, humanities, and the arts, allowing students to tailor their learning to personal interests and future goals.

  • The IB Core
    A unique and integral part of the programme that promotes critical thinking, personal growth, and real-world engagement:

    • Extended Essay (EE) – an independent, university-style research paper

    • Theory of Knowledge (TOK) – a course exploring the nature of knowledge

    • Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) – experiential learning through community service, artistic expression, and physical activity
Assessment and Achievement
  • Each subject is graded on a scale of 1 to 7, with 7 as the highest score.

  • Up to 3 additional points can be earned from the IB Core components, bringing the maximum possible score to 45 points.

ILG School provides comprehensive support and guidance throughout the DP journey, ensuring that students are well-prepared for both academic success and meaningful contributions to their communities.

Available Subjects

Group 1: Language and Literature 

Students take at least one subject from studies in language and literature. Taking two studies in language and literature subjects in different languages is one way of obtaining a bilingual diploma.

ILG currently offers the following subjects

1. English A: Language and Literature SL/HL

2. Albanian A: Literature SL/HL

3. English A: Literature and Performance SL

Group 2: Language Acquisition 

The main emphasis of the modern language courses is on the acquisition and use of language in a range of contexts and for different purposes while, at the same time, promoting an understanding of another culture through the study of its language.

 

ILG currently offers the following subjects

1. French B SL/HL

2. German B SL/HL

3. German Ab Initio (intended for students with less than one year’s experience studying the language)

Group 3: Individuals and Societies

Students are required to take at least one subject from these group and have the option to take another if they choose to forego taking an Arts subject.

ILG currently offers the following subjects

1. History SL/HL

2. Business Management SL/HL 

Group 4: Sciences

Students are required to take at least one subject from these group and have the option to take another if they choose to forego taking an Arts subject.

1. Biology SL/HL

2. Chemistry SL/HL

3. Physics SL/HL

Group 5: Mathematics

ILG currently offers the following subjects, students may only take one subject from this group.

1. Mathematics: Applications and Interpretations SL/HL

2. Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches SL/HL

Group 6: The Arts

Each subject is designed to foster critical, reflective and informed practice, help students understand the dynamic and changing nature of the arts, explore the diversity of arts across time, place and cultures, and express themselves with confidence and competence.

The ILG School Summer Camp is back! Join us from Monday, 26 June, through Friday, 28 July, from 08:30-15:00. Registration is open to current students, new students, and children that do not attend ILG School from ages 2-16. (Early Years 1 – Grade 11 for the 2023-2024 school year.) We look forward to welcoming you for a summer of fun!
