ILG is Kosovo’s first International Baccalaureate World School!

ILG is Kosovo’s first International Baccalaureate World School!

5 July 2021

Pristina, – The Pristina-based International Learning Group (ILG) School has been further authorized by the prestigious international foundation “International Baccalaureate” (IB) for the Middle Years Programme (MYP). The ILG School was established in 2004 and is now officially authorized as the first and only school in Kosovo providing the internationally recognized educational programmes of the International Baccalaureate. This important milestone was achieved following the implementation of a rigorous authorization process that lasted for several years. The IB – and now the ILG School – provides an education fit for a globalized world: the IB emphasizes the personal development of students who shall benefit from being well prepared for college life across the world.

On this occasion, the Executive Director of the School, Ms Rachel MacKinnon said: “Following the news that our school was authorized at the first-ever International Baccalaureate World School in May of this year we are excited to contribute even more to Kosovo’s educational landscape by also bringing the Middle Years Programme (Grades 6-10) of the IB to Kosovo! Through its programmes, the IB ensures a quality assurance that is so needed, but it also does much more than that. The real value of the IB lies in the fact that it is motivated by a mission to create a better world through education”.

The ILG School is fully accredited with the Ministry of Education in Kosovo. In addition to the newly acquired authorization by the IB, it is also a partner of Cognia, AAIE, CEESA and NWEA. Further, the ILG School is in the process of authorization for the IB Diploma Programme (DP) and the Middle Years Programme (MYP).

Peripatetic Music Program

Our extensive music curriculum is complemented by a program of peripatetic (private) instrumental lessons. Private instrumental lessons with specialist teachers are offered in piano, violin, singing, guitar, bass guitar, flute, double bass, saxophone, clarinet, and drums.

Some instruments are available for children from Early Years 2 and above and others require children to wait until Grade 1 due to the level of maturity required. All students are encouraged to take up an instrument during the school day if they wish.

Lessons are thirty minutes in duration and are held each week. The lessons take place during the school day on a planned rolling program including during after-school activities time. There is an expectation that children who are involved in peripatetic lessons will practise at home. Peripatetic teachers provide families with regular progress reports.

Please contact Ms. Jakupi at info@ilg-ks.org for further information about our full program.

Bus Transportation

ILG School has selected Medita Travel Company to provide transport for the ILG students. The service is door to door. You can choose the service both ways, morning and afternoons, or one way only.

The buses have 12-15 seats; each student would have one seat with proper seat belts.

Parents/Guardians can put or provide their own additional “baby safety seat” if desired. Each bus has one chaperone, which makes sure that every student has his seat belt on and assists students with getting on and off the bus.

All drivers and chaperones for ILG School have up-to-date First Aid and CPR training as a part of our extensive ILG safety measures.
